This event is an evening of all original music in an acoustic setting.

We have a great line up of songwriters scheduled for this month’s Songwriter Night on January 11^th. I will open the evening at 6:00 pm with a couple of my tunes, then the evening will feature the original music of songwriters:

Carl Leach – (Carl Anthony) consummate performer throughout NW Indiana and Chicago area

Scott Reichard – Classical guitar original music instrumentalist

Billy Klein of Loretto Lane playing guitar and sharing beautiful life commentary and fun toe-tappers

Ted Spaniak of Loretto Lane and Strung Out – top notch piano and guitar player and multi-styled songwriter

Karl Ackermann – Karl is “The Big Band Dude” he is a multi-genre musical storyteller. You can get a preview of his music at CDBaby or on his website.

Dominic D’Andrea – poignant folk commentary

Danny will come back up for a couple songs to finish off the evening.

Ronny Jesson – Ronny is an accomplish guitarist and pianist who writes in the modern blues rock style that implies a rock anthem atmosphere.

Billy Klein – playing guitar and sharing songs dedicated to our Veterans, beautiful life commentary, his travels to our country’s music centers and fun toe-tappers. A very prolific songwriter, Billy is always bringing something new to the stage for us.

Nick Scarpinato – A talented vocalist, guitarist and songwriter – Nick definitely brings a breath of modern air and flair to the stage.

Karl Ackermann – Karl plays and writes in a bit of the grungy blues style with life situation lyrics and humorous anecdotes on love.

Loretto Lane (Billy Klein and Ted Spaniak) – this writing team has a wide variety of musical styles, genre and subject matter for their songs. They range from the deadly serious to the sublimely humorus in their lyric.

Nick Scarpinato – A talented vocalist, guitarist and songwriter – Nick definitely brings a breath of modern air and flair to the stage.

Beth Newman – An excellent vocalist, guitarist and songwriter. Beth will be sharing her modern writing style with us as she performs songs from her recent album release “Entry Level Attitude”. For a preview, her songs can be heard on Youtube, Spotify and many of the usual streaming platforms. We look forward to hearing her live set.

Gary Lee Kirkpatrick with Ron Berry and Steve Koerber – Gary Lee writes in a variety of styles from country to rock to jazz. Gary will have a pair of fine guitarists accompanying him for this acoustic set showing off his eclectic vocal style.

If time allows, Kwaician Traylor has promised to come by and share a few of his songs as a preview to his full set scheduled for the following month.

Mike Owens – Originally from Southern Missouri, Mike writes in the energetic melting pot Americana style of country blues. He plays the dobro and harmonica to fit the lyrical content of his stories.

Dominic D’Andrea – Dominic writes poignant songs of life on the road, love and lost lost love and well as clever songs about everyday life.

Mike Gajdik and Shelly – Mike writers in the folk/blues tradition and harmonizes wonderfully with the beautiful voice of his daughter Shelly.

This father/daughter team has been active for the last couple decades in the form of live performances by Hoi Polloi and Chips A’ Hoi. The culminating record album is under the name Cohorts in Cahoots.

Michael Wallace – Michael writes beautiful songs of tribute, love and humor. He has plenty of fun, bluesy tunes as well. He has an energetic style all while playing harmonica and guitar in the traditional folk genre.

Keegan Darr – Although Keegan has been out playing acoustic sets in the NW Indiana region for some time now, she is just getting started in writing and recording her original music. Keegan is new to our Songwriter Night event at Smokey Jo’s, however, we heard a great sample of her writing at Montego Bay Grille back in September. Her first single “For A Day” has just been released in October 2023 We are all looking forward to hearing new music from a new artist on the scene.

Dave Rudolf – Dave is a multiple Gold Record, Grammy nominated artist. He will be performing songs from his most recent, 42^nd album release. We may get a preview of songs from his next album as well. Winner of many numerous awards for his songwriting, recordings and performances, Dave is obviously a highly prolific and accomplished songwriter and performer.

TJ Aubuchon – TJ is a fine guitarist writing songs in the new age acoustic style with strong vocals and musicianship. TJ’s first full album just dropped this past week! The project is complete with electrified versions of the songs we’ve been hearing acoustically these past months with full rhythm section and added production.You can preview T.J.’s music at his artist page: facebook.com/tjaubuchonperformer or now hear the new album on Spotify, Pandora, YouTube, etc.

Billy Klein and Ted Spaniak – A.K.A. Loretto Lane – These fellas are great performers and have a wide variety of original music to play for you. Both Billy and Ted are stylistic singers and prolific writers. Ted is a top-notch piano and guitar player and multi-styled songwriter. Billy has a wonderful voice and acoustic guitar style with many songs written for our veterans and touching songs of life and love. Together they provide an energetic mix of upbeat songs and heart-felt ballads ranging from slick humor to deadly serious.

2024 Tour Dates

Sunday, January 7^th 2024 – Songwriter Encore 2023

2:00 pm – 7:00 pm – The Spot Studio in Schneider, Indiana

This will be a larger-scale version of the monthly Songwriter Night events. This entire afternoon/evening will be live-streamed on Facebook starting at 2:00 pm. To view the video, listeners will go to The Spot Studio page on Facebook.

This event is open to the public. Some hospitality will be provided by the owners, John and Julie Huber, throughout the afternoon. Guests are welcome to BYOB and food as you like. Guests may also come and go as you please in this smoke-free environment.

We will have 14 performances by songwriters and songwriting teams – all of whom have performed at the monthly Songwriter Nights that I host. The final line-up and performance schedule will be announced soon via email, facebook, Instagram, etc.
